Style and Substance! This is the impression April Harris- Helfter hopes she leaves behind when she finishes a presentation, training, or personal style consultation. Beginning with selling ice cream at a very early age, April always knew she was meant to own a business and in December 2014, with the launch of Iowa Etiquette Academy & Finishing School, this dream has come true.

In reviewing her achievements the past ears, April now understands how representing her school as a MUN delegate, traveling everywhere from Prague to Paris, and London to Malta, and volunteering as a Red Cross Summer Youth Coordinator, consulting as a beauty expert, and working in sales for a high end department store, has enabled her to polish her public speaking and presentation skills.

In addition, April has learned that beauty and social grace – while defined in many different ways, always includes aspects of self-reflection, confidence and social intelligence. April believes that “…choosing civility, consistently exhibiting good manners, and having the courage to communicate effectively are what makes us beautiful on the inside. And then, building on these aspects of character, we can exhibit poise, confidence and personal style to present ourselves beautifully on the outside.”
April is a candidate for ICTC Master level Certification as a Courtesy Coach® and Civility at Work Trainer®. She is also in process to achieve her credential as a Validated High Style Image Dress and Decorum Expert® and Level 1 Social Intelligence Analyst®. Through In Good Company Etiquette Academy, April and her team offer dining and social skills training for all ages as well as High Style Image programs.

The training we offer helps build character, confidence and courtesy. We don’t just teach the correct behavior, we explain “why” good behavior is necessary—and the consequences of bad manners. Etiquette classes offer learning strategies for coping with change and ensure your child’s social success.

Etiquette courses help develop social skills such as:

• Proper behaviour at home, at school or in public
• Showing respect for parents, elders or others
• Communication and coping skills to avoid tantrums and overcome shyness
• Sharing, empathy and helping others
• Finding worth and building self-esteem
• Choosing good role models and navigating difficult situations
• Establishing good habits: health, diet, exercise, hygiene
• Setting realistic goals and devising plans to achieve them
• Practical life skills such as: managing money, caring for their things; basic cooking

Setting a pretty table, sewing on a button, arranging flowers, learning how to plan a party, these are just a few of the activities and social graces that little girls ages 5-10 will do at Rosebud Club. Join us Sunday afternoons with good friends, tea parties, and lots of fun activities.

Your membership includes passes for 10 of 15 possible Sundays, plus 2 (two) FREE passes so you can invite a friend to join you! Every Sunday from Nov. 8, 2015-Jan 30, 2016 we will engage in interesting activities, do crafts and build our conversation and social skills.  All supplies and refreshments included.
