LEARNING HOW TO COMMUNICATE WELL LEADS TO SUCCESS – SOCIAL SKILLS  MATTER!

Recent statistics have shown that the most valuable skill a child can learn – even more valuable than math  is how to communicate well.

From the written word to the verbal, how a person communicates is central to their personal, social and professional success.  Someone who does not know how to communicate well with others will find themselves on the outside looking in at good jobs, and even at friendships and relationships – and so much more.

Essentially, communication is about how we speak to – and listen to – other people.  And that is where civility comes in .  Civility is about so much more than just good manners.  Being skilled in communication is about much more than just knowing what words to use…it’s about making ourselves understood – and about making others feel truly heard.

That’s something we can teach children from a very young age  – and we should.  From the basics – listening to and hearing others, to respecting differences, we should take every opportunity to teach kids these important social skills that experts have proven will have a monumentally positive effect on both the personal happiness of children as well as the classroom environment.
